I want to work in Portugal. Which type of recognition should I choose?

It depends on the situation. In Portugal, access to and exercise of professions is free, in accordance with the constitutional principle of freedom to choose a profession. This means that, for most non-regulated professions, the requirements for employment will depend on each employer. However, in the case of regulated professions, specific access and practice requirements apply, as explained in the information available here. In the list of regulated professions, you may check whether your profession is regulated in Portugal and, if so, which national authority is responsible for professional recognition. We recommend contacting that authority for information on the specific conditions for access to the profession. For the recognition of professional qualifications, we also suggest consulting information on the steps to be followed with the DGERT – Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations (https://www.dgert.gov.pt/reconhecimento-das-qualificacoes-profissionais).
